Learning English as a second language is difficult enough for someone who comes to the United States on vacation or to study but when you are a professional who will be in the business world, it poses even more challenges.

As anyone knows specific businesses have their own “business language” whether it is engineering, financial, legal or commercial. In each of these areas and many others certain terminology and acronyms are used there and practically nowhere else. It is therefore even more daunting to embark on a new career in a new country with a new language – in a business that also has a subset of the English language!

Even trying to get a job has its own challenges – resume writing and cover letters – along with the actual interviews themselves can present tremendous anxiety and make a well qualified and competent person act and sound like they don’t know anything at all. Because they are terrified to say the wrong thing or their resume is full of errors and bad vocabulary they make a poor presentation and might possibly blow their chance at the job because they weren’t properly prepared.

For those venturing out into the business world it is important to be up to speed on all areas of your intended business endeavors. With many online resources available – many of them free of charge – you can practice your business English skills prior to your interview and you can have someone ensure that your resume gives you the appropriate presentation you deserve.

They are educational resources that will help you with business meetings and how to conduct one. Others will assist with improving your vocabulary in the particular type of business you are in – legal terms, financial terms, medical profession and every other business situation that you mig
